I am an undergrad and want to apply to Emory, Nova, and South University. If anyone can give me some insight on what my chances are or if there is anything more I can do before applying that would be great! I really appreciate the advice!! Thank you so much in advance!!
GPA: 3.4 Science GPA: 3.12 GRE: Q: 154 (64th percentile) V: 154 (55th percentile) Writing: 5/6 (93rd percentile)-I am retaking them to hopefully score higher LOR: My boss (I have been a clinical research assistant for the GI department for 3 years now), Latin Professor (I am minoring in classics with Latin), and Anesthesiologist whom I shadowed. -Took part in a 6 week summer clinical internship program -Part of the National Classics Honors Society and National Honors Society at my school -A little bit more than 100 hours of volunteering - I will be scribing for a year while I apply
I currently have around 30 hours of shadowing an anesthesiologist but will be getting a few more hours. I am just worried because my GPA and GRE's are low and I don't have too many hours shadowing an anesthesiologist (am trying to get more hours of shadowing)! I really appreciate any advice! Thank you so much!!
I'd say your chances are relatively good of getting an interview. My stats were a bit higher than yours, but very similar. I also applied to Emory, South, and Nova. I got interviews at all 3, attended the South & Emory interviews and got accepted to both. Ultimately, I chose to attend South. As you gear up to apply, I suggest getting some more shadowing hours and retaking the GRE. Your GRE scores (IMO) are good enough to get you interviews, but since you have time it will look good to the ADCOMs to be constantly improving your application. Also, really stand out in your personal statement and be very educated on what an AA is, what they do, and how dedicated you are to our profession.
