Hello everyone! Has anyone else here applied to Nova and heard back from them yet? This wait is agonizing!

I received a phone call from someone at Nova letting me know that my application is complete and under review. I was told that they are sending out invites starting this month until the beginning of Sept for the first wave.

I called them to check on my CV I sent (since the CASAA uploaded it incorrectly) and they told me the same thing. I'm anxious because of all this waiting as well, but I know it can take months for them to extend an invitation. Not to sound negative, but when I spoke with the Tampa admissions counselor he said there were over 500 applications between the two Nova schools this time around. I hope I'm apart of this first round of invites, but it could take a bit longer since there is a much greater interest in the profession than ever. Good luck!

I wouldn't get discouraged if you don't get into the first round of invites. It's frustrating cause that means you have to wait another month or two but you just have to be patient. I like to think of the admissions process like the NFL draft. Usually the best players get picked up in the first round, but that's not always the case. There's always a handful of late round picks and even undrafted free agents that end up outperforming first round picks. It just goes to show that numbers and stats only go so far. You need to be good enough to get your foot in the door, but you still have to show up and play the game. Otherwise we would just decide who wins based on which team has players with better stats.
My application is basically complete so I should be getting the call in a couple days as well so if I hear anything I'll post it. As far as having a big applicant pool that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be more competitive. There's no point making yourself anxious speculating over those sort of things anyways. Also I know there has been a lot of discussion on Nova here but hopefully everyone is applying to other schools as well. If you haven't you might want to consider it before you put all your eggs in one basket. Good luck to everyone though, should be starting to hear about invites from most schools by early September and hopefully everyone here can go then, but again they go on through February for most so no one should get down on themself just yet.

Not that I would feel discouraged if I'm not invited for these first round of invites, I'm just being impatient after a few month runaround from CASAA. I'm not too worried about the large applicant pool, I was just surprised that the interest in this profession has grown so drastically in a short period of time. I've only applied to Nova so far and feel more confident about my chances after speaking with some of the faculty on the phone, but I do have everything ready to go for South as well. I am curious to hear about your or any other applicant's experiences at the other programs so far.

Yeah I think there has been a lot more advertising over the past couple years for it. I went to a large school where pretty much every biology major was pre-health so we had emails and flyers about the case programs once every couple of months, though I didn't end up applying to any of the case programs mainly due to the locations. I did apply to South and Denver though. If you have everything ready to go for South then I would definitely go ahead. Why not? you already went through the trouble of filling out the CASAA application. It just gives you another option. Some other applicants applying to South might not like me for saying that ha ha, but oh well too bad, there's always going to be competition. South has a partnership with Mercer University school of Medicine and the faculty is split between the two schools. The program contact for South is a lady named Ms. Fischer and she is really helpful. She always emails me back and is very clear and knowledgeable about the program and admissions process. Everything with them so far has just gone really smoothly. I finished my application and she emailed me back saying they would start reviewing applications over the next few weeks. I don't have much to say yet about Denver, but I really like the layout of their program compared to other aa programs. There aren't any "elective" courses thrown in, it's just bare bones what you need for your career, giving you more time to practice important techniques and study essentially. I also think Denver will likely be the most competitive based on their last entering class, but who knows with such small class sizes (maybe 20 or so this year) there's usually a big swing in test scores and GPAs every year. hope that was somewhat helpful.

I would need to take an extra class than if I went to Nova. I'm trying to save as much money as possible so I can pay for a majority of my expenses upfront instead of getting more loans. Also a lady I spoke with from South tried to tell me my degree (a PharmD) wasn't adequate and wasn't even as good as a bachelors degree. I know I am limiting myself a little more than most, but I do feel pretty confident with my chances so far. We'll see what comes of it. Thank you for the info though and good luck with your applications!

Everything was finished with my CASAA about early July and my Nova applications were submitted late July. Have you heard any more information about when we should hear something?
