Hey everybody, Im a father married with 2 and 8.75/9ths children who is super interested in becoming an AA. I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on the availability of relatively local clinical rotation sites, and the accommodations that the various schools try to make for people with families who have a harder time relocating for some or all of the year. I understand that fledgling schools that are trying to make names for themselves in new AA states will have a harder time with this and that is included in my question. I also know that I am going to be lambasted by some on this board for not thinking about my potential fellow students and their clinical rotations whether or not they have families. For that I apologize. I just really need to know if it will be worth it for me to move to say Houston and then have to schlepp my family all over the country, or is it a better strategy to attend emory or case cleveland and have a better chance of staying put... Sorry about the long winded post.. Thanks so much in advance

At Emory you only have to do 2 out of town rotations which can be as close as 1 1/2-2 hours away, for instance Macon or Tifton. If you do 4 ten hour shifts at these places you can leave Sunday night and come home Thursday night.
A rotation is only 4 weeks so it shouldn't be a huge burden on your family if you only really gone a total of 32 days for the entire 2 year program.
