99.150.242.60south also has 100% passing rate on the boards. all schools are going to be very competitive and you will get a great education at any of them. i canceled my interviews at nova and emory when i was accepted at south because i felt really great about the program, professors, clinical sites, etc, and it doesn't hurt that savannah is an amazing city. it all depends on which program/location is best fit for you. - Re: Best AA Program

76.188.213.96yeah I agree you can not really use those rankings. It does not rank the program. They are all great schools with the ability to prepare you to be a great AA. The only question to which school is best is which one will connect with you and make you want to succeed. No stats or rankings can decide which school is best for you. An individual will have a job regardless of the school it is; your job is to find the school that will drive you to get the degree. What most people neglect to look at is that being accepted does not mean you will make it through. - Re: Best AA Program

68.52.245.201I see your point. Last year Emory was the only school I applied to and I didn't make it in. Monday I called and spoke to Sharon from South and Laura from Case Western and someone also from UMKC. They were all so helpful and eager to talk to me about their programs and answer any questions I had. The even volunteered to take my name and email and put me on their distribution list. Compared to Emory this is like night and day. During the application process, whenever I would call I almost always was made to feel as though I was bothering them. In general, they just were not helpful nor friendly to me. I do plan on reapplying to Emory next year, but chances are, if I get into another program, I'll go with it. With Case Western I really like the fact that their class sizes are small (12-14). Wouldn't be too thrilled with living in Cleveland though. - Question.. Does MAJOR matter?

12.216.198.203Getting into an AA program is extremely competitive. There are hundreds of qualified applicants to each school. The pre-reqs are the bare minimum, and you have to perform extremely well in all those classes. They also expect to see high GRE scores and your letters of rec should be outstanding. You also need solid, heartfelt answers to why you want to be an AA. - Re: Best AA Program

174.130.126.47Cleveland's not so bad! I've been living here for the last 6 years, and I love it. Winters can be a little rough, but they're survivable! The Cleveland Clinic is an amazing organization to work for, at ALL levels (I started as an STNA and have been growing with the brand ever since). CWRU is the only program I'll be applying for--and it's a long shot for me, to be honest. I don't have all the pre-med prerequisites, but if you score a 25 overall on the MCAT, they waive the requirements. I happen to be a great test-taker, and do well with hands-on, clinical training, so I figure I'll give it a try, just to see. If I'm not accepted, I will continue down the PA path I've been pursuing for the last year or so. I sure with I'd known this was the direction I wanted to take when I was 18... I wouldn't have wasted so much time and money on my useless business degree! - Re: Best AA Program

71.166.65.41I don't believe this is true about Case Western. If you score a 25 or higher on the MCAT, this simply means you do not have to retake any pre - reqs that you took more than 5 years ago. A score of 25 or higher does not exclude you from taking the required pre- reqs. I wish you were right though. - Re: Best AA Program

76.101.9.61I believe you have to be correct. None of the AA programs are going to waive requirements, even if you got a 40 on the MCAT. I am currnetly in the AA program at Nova and the curriculum is so demanding that if you were some how able to get accepted w/o some of those prereqs, you would not have a glimmer of hope at succeding past the first semester. I can assure any of you interested in the AA profession that once you are accepted and begin classes, you will experience a work-load and difficulty unlike any you have experienced as an undergrad...so be prepared. Your life will consist of eating, breathing, and sleeping AA education for approx 27 months. I say go for it! - Re: Best AA Program

76.101.9.61In the beginning you will not need to remember details from those particular classes, but following semesters will require some recollection of that info. What you will need, however, is a willingness to set most everything in you life aside during your time as an AA student. I am not saying you can't have fun on occasions; in fact, you need to relax sometimes. You just need to realize that you will be spending 40-60hrs/wk (maybe more) studying in addition to all the time you will be in class. I am not trying to scare you. I am just making sure you thoroughly understand what you are getting yourself into. With that said, I don't regret my decision to become an AA for one second. - Re: Best AA Program

couldn't have said it better myself, current AA-S...I am at NOVA, also. Be prepared for flexible scheduling with school (times and dates change for classes). Also, some classes begin later and some end early. Organization is key. The first couple of months are very intense because of Anatomy...After that, you have more time to dedicate to your other studies. Heck, I even had time to go to the beach, finally!!!
