Hi Kip, your welcome anything I can do to help you succeed as an AA-C, I am more than welcome to assist you.

To find out more about the profession of anesthesia technicians and technologist go to www.ASATT.org, it will tell you every thing you need to know about ATs and what they do in the ACT as allied health profession.

When you see ASATT web page at the very top upper left hand corner you will see HOME click on each page and you will learn a lot about anesthesia technology as an AT/CER.AT/CER.ATT .

If I were you and your looking at 1 to 2 years before getting into and/or applying to AA school, I would apply to different hospitals in becoming an anesthesia technician. Just as you stated you can make money and learn anesthesia at the same time with hands on experience.

The catch is you have to work 2 full years an an AT before you can sit for the National Exam (ASATT). However I'm sure there are exceptions in taking the exam within 1 year vs. 2 years, I would explain to the MDA or DOA and possible call or email ASATT and explain to them that you are applying to AA program to become an medical anesthetist, certified anesthesiologist assistant (anesthetist).

Explain to them you have been working as an AT for 1 year and you have been checked off by an MDA, DOA, AA-C, CRNA on your skills and you would like to sit for the National Exam.

Sorry I have to go now my pager just went off, I have a Liver Transplant case coming in, I'm on the Transplant Team.

I will get back with you later with some more great information for you.

    Bye
