They close the school down and board up all the windows if a serious hurricane is coming. This summer we had a scare and I think the university closed early for a day and was canceled for a day. It's really not a big deal everyone makes a huge deal out of it but its just some heavy rain and wind. It really only matters if you own a house down here and it may cause damage you have to repair.
