For me the choice to go to AA school is a choice to further my education and training. I was a Paramedic for 10 years and a number of those years were both Critical Care and 911. I also did not like the person that I was becoming after ten years. Not burned out, but very callus with the system. A shoulder injury forced me out after fully rehabbing myself I am working as a Anesthesia Technician gaining experience every day till time to apply (hopefully next year.) I miss being a street medic and especially those critical calls, but I love being in the OR now and being a resource to the anesthetists. You would be surprised how many times the providers ask the techs for input. Can not wait for AA school. I think being a hardened medic gives you the ability to think on your feet and to adapt to almost anything that is thrown at you.
