I would equate healthcare experience with anything that you may have some sort of patient contact. That being said, most healthcare jobs require either a certificate or degree in a specific area of healthcare. Yet, there are areas within the hospital that don't require some sort of degree; like unit secretary,patient sitters, hospital volunteers, anesthesia aides, etc,etc. You would have to check the hospital job websites in your area that may suite your specific educational experience. I'd say start there. Now it is good to remember that healthcare experience is not required, but does help your application;especially with your present circumstance.As far as shadowing is concerned, it helps you find your educational direction, but does not equal experience. Shadowing doesn't hurt though...and is a requirement for your application.
