Hi Ir I agree with you 100% well said the same thing I have been preaching in my past postings. "respect" for both anesthetists C.R.N.A.s and A.A.-C.s were doing the same exact job in the ACT.

I have always said the AANA should respect and welcome the AAAA together as "ONE" Why? because the AA-Cs are helping in many ways when it comes to staffing shortage in the ACT in states where CRNAs & AA-Cs both practice.

The other reason why I feel the AANA should respect the AAAA, is because there are "nurses" whether there B.S.N. or A.D.N. who are R.N.A.A.-C.s who chose to go AA-C route for personal reasons. Not because there turning there back against nursing the bottom line is a nurse that go's AA-C route still function as a "Nurse Anesthetist" in the same manner as an C.R.N.A.. As an Allied Health Profession they function as an "Nurse Anesthesiologist Anesthetist Assistant" both performing the same job in the ACT. In reality he/she both are still a nurses when they graduate from AA-C program.

The only difference between both Anesthetists are when you function as an C.R.N.A. their practice is consider " NURSING", when you function as an A.A.-C. their practice is consider "MEDICAL" that's all. In my opinion when the AANA constantly bash or disrespect the AAAA there disrespecting their own fellow nurses that worked as an ICU specialty nurse which is very sad and wrong on all levels.

We need to band and work together as a whole (society) that is to caring for our patients across the board on all levels in all 50 states with both anesthetists. We also need to stop comparing each other profession on who's better then who, who makes more $$$money than the other, and comparing ACT practice vs. Independent practice (this is mostly coming from the AANA or negative CRNAs on this web site who are against AA-Cs).

In my opinion "BOTH" anesthetists provide excellent anesthesia care in the same manner as A.N.Ps and P.A.-C.s, I work with both ANPs/PA-Cs at my hospital and I have to admit they both perform excellent patient care and I have the up most respect for both practitioners. Yes their education back ground are different but in many ways they are similar as well.

I agree with you also Ir I welcome Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants=Anesthetist at my hospital as well which I'm in the process of doing as we speak (recruiting A.A.-C.s) and a few C.R.N.A.s which I already have working at my hospital. I want people to know who the other Mid-level (A.A.-C.s) providers are, who are not being respected or recognize for their strong value in the ACT working side by side with CRNAs for nearly 40 years and counting of service to the community which I feel they rightfully deserve to be acknowledge.

There has to be "Unity and Respect" for both anesthetists not one over the other period. I really appreciate your input, honesty, respect, but most of all your support for the AA-C profession and for being a true open minded health care provider as a AFNP (Advance Family Nurse Practitioner).

The AANA could learn a lot from you maybe you should write a letter to the AANA when it comes to being a true health care provider with respect for others (A.A.-C.s), integrity, open minded, support, "CHANGE", and unity?.

Oh and for the record Anesthesia Assistant is actually an Anesthesia Technician (A.T.) in some states big confusion vs. Anesthesiologist Assistant. I'm not putting anesthesia technicians down in any way because I'm an AT and very proud of it, just being an A.T. I have gain a lot of knowledge on my own and from my Anesthesiologists M.D. & D.O. . Being an A.T., Cer.A.T., or Cer.A.T.T. (Technologist) with a Bachelor's of Science degree is very good path way into becoming an anesthetists A.A.-C. or C.R.N.A. with out becoming a nurse.

Take care future Anesthetist A.A.-C.,M.M.Sc.,B.S.H. (Bachelor's of Science in Health/Science)
