    AA to work strictly in pre-op? Archived Message

    check out the above job link.

    first off the the pay looks low for an AA. if the job only involves doing pre-op, then 100K is probably in the top 10% of salaries for this type of job for a midlevel. why hire an AA for this type of work when a PA or NP could do the same job for less $$$? isnt an AA actually over-trained to be limited to only the pre-op arena? (job ad does mention "possible" OR work)

    isnt there a law in KY that requires AAs to actually be dual AA/PAs in order to be licensed?

    if so, then this type of pay and job seems like poor utilization for a dual certified professional. a more proper job, IMHO, would involve splitting time equally between the pre-op clinic AND the OR, with a higher salary b/c of the versatility of this provider.

    what do you guys think?
