Dave, About the whole "tax credit" concept -- I am a bit confused. So what the Democrats want to do (or Hillary, at least) is essentially create a new income-configured sliding-scale tax that will be used by the government to help pay for insurance programs for those who cannot afford them, and if you buy insurance, you get some sort of tax credit? I don't think I understand what they're proposing. If they are basically buying poor people insurance, what plans are they going to pay for? It's not like the government is going to purchase the expensive, premium insurance policies that most of the best doctors take. Also, is the government going to force insurance companies to offer coverage for people based on however much they -- the government -- is willing to spend? Wouldn't this kind of plan eventually lead to an overall decline in physician reimbursements, with physician incomes steadying (at a significantly lower figure, of course) after a few years? Is all of this correct, or am I missing something here?
