The AMA states that the national average salary for the anesthesiologist assistant is approximately $90,000-$110,000/yr. However, the jobs posted on Gaswork.com suggest an average of $150-$160k/yr. (in fact, the lowest salary offered for any job posted is $110k/yr.).
What gives -- howcome the AMA's average is so much lower than what most employers seem to be offering? Do these salaries include first-year bonuses (which would render them inaccurate beyond that period of one year), etc.?
Also, what is the forecast concerning the fluctuation of salaries for the next 10-15 years? It seems to me that salaries will take a broad hit only if one (or both) of two things happens: a.) a Democrat is voted into the White House, or b.) drastic cuts are implemented in the Medicare system.
However, if these changes can be avoided, it would seem that the AA salary will only continue to rise...
