No Health Care Experience is Wrong!!Archived Message

I just thought I would say that not having any health care experience to get into AA programs is wrong. Having health care experience is vital to understanding the patients needs, their apprehensions and the anxiety they feel when coming into the OR. This is extremely important. I do not believe that someone with a degree in basket weaving can fully grasp that concept without actually " doing it"; No matter how many pre-requisites they take. Even in getting into Physician assistant programs, they smile upon having a health care background rather than not. I would like to believe this requirement will change as AA's become more mainstream.
I would also like to add that I am saying this as a future AA and also as person with 7.5 years experience in the operating room as a surgical assistant.
