I am currently a RT in Michigan and am looking for a field to move into. If I had known that RT was a field that provided little to no growth, I wouldn't have chossen it. The three options I am looking at are CRNA, AA, and PA's as Graduate education. Since I already have a Bachelor degree, AA and PA are more favored than a CRNA, since I'd have to go to RN school before entering the CRNA program.
Does anyone know how the job market for AA's are in MI? I asked around today at the hospital I worked and no one here knew anything about AA. This worries me because the last thing I want to do is go through any program and not be able to find a job. Sadly that is what happened with my BGS degree.
It seems from reading this board that there is a battle brewing the CRNA and AA fields, yet some (Dave J) seem to be CRNA accepting of AA. Is it a possibility that the Nursing field can squash out the AA? I am asking this, because as a RT in MI, I know how nursing has pushed the RT out of many aspects that RT's do in many of the other states.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
