What I’d like to do is suggest my going-to-be apartment complex to you all: the Oaks of Charleston. Website: http://www.oaksofcharleston.com/
Address: 15 Charleston Park Drive, Houston, TX 77025
Disclaimer: This apartment complex is a 10 minute DRIVE from the medical center.
I’m going to now copy and paste some stuff I posted on another thread a while ago, sorry if you end up reading it twice!
I went to undergrad at Rice University, which is right across the street from where the AA program is. I currently am living off campus at the Villas at Hermann Park, but this place is priceeeyyyy ($1700 for 2bed/2bath) and I can no longer afford it since I won't have any income these two years. I will be moving to an apartment complex, the Oaks of Charleston, which is much cheaper ($800 for 2bed/2bath, $600 for 1bed/1bath), but 10 minutes drive away from the medical center. By the way, I’ve noticed that once you get within a 5 minute drive to the medical center, prices shoot up to 1400+ per month for 2bed/2bath. There’s no nice in-between price as far as I know.
If you don't know yet, medical center parking is also ridiculously pricey. However, as a Rice alumni, I can get parking at a Rice parking lot that is a 10 minute walk away from the AA program's office. The parking price there is less than 1 dollar a day (versus the 12 dollars a day at the medical center parking lots).
I also offer carpooling in my car so those who do not have a car, feel free to live at the Oaks of Charleston and hit me up for rides every day! My only price will be to split the cost of my alumni parking permit, which shouldn’t be much if I fill up my 5 passenger car!
Anyways, if you’re interested in this arrangement, or even in just living at the Oaks of Charleston, let me know! There’s a referral fee of $300 and I’m more than happy to split the price with you! Questions, comments, concerns, email me at chw4@rice.edu
Thanks for reading this long message!
