A helpful mindset that works is to think about what makes you most happy in the present. Thinking about all the what-ifs cause angst and obscures your ability to decide what's best for you now.
I haven't disregarded any other profession such as medical school, PHD program, or actuarial science in my future. But at this time in my life AA is the best choice for me. I am not going to worry right now about IF I decide I want to go to medical school how will I afford it or IF I am not happy as an AA. Naturally this happens, but then consider the positive. IF I'm not happy as an AA then I have a springboard to medical school.
Ask yourself the apt questions to determine which program would make you most happy now. This perspective has been vital to making all my decisions so I thought I'd share.
