It looks like the " public plan " health care reform is loosing momentum. According to the ASA website, one house committee has already agreed to " negiotate medicare reinbursement rates " opposed to the 33% medicare reinbursement rate originally purposed plan. This is a positive step forward for Anesthesiologists,AAs and prospective AA students. All interested parties should email, call and write your local congressman to oppose the 33% medicare reinbursement public plan. Congress meetings resume on September 8th to continue discussions regarding health care reform. The public health care reform will affect all health care parties, not just AAs or Anesthesiologists. Let your voice be heard in a government that is trying to take over our health care. If you think the government becoming more inovolved in health care is a great thing, just look at Europe and Canada. Their patients come to our country for health care. Think about it. Dont stand on the sidelines and let this happen. Be proactive and educated yourselves. Contact your local congressman. I am a Emergency Medicine Physician assistant/prospective AA student, and I am looking forward to my future career as an anesthesiology assistant.
