Well, first let me congratulate the AA fighter on her/his fine grammar and spelling. Second, the argument that AAs are not as qualified to administer anesthesia as CRNAs because of their lack of clinical experience is baseless. ICU RNs, while in the presence of sick people, follow orders set by the resident/attending. They do not make patient care plans and they expound their experience there beyond all reason. As for AAs, we follow the medical model and must have a rigorous set of prerequisites, not the watered down version that RNs take. Third, why would I want someone to give me anesthesia that spent the first part of their career turning patients and wiping their backside? BTW anyone ever read any research put out by RNs? (I saw a couple covering the use of rectal trumpets, LOL!) RNs as a group (broad generalization) tend to see themselves as more important and more intelligent than anyone else. The unfortunate reality is that they're not.
