Just a comment on the opening writer. CRNAs have NOT been giving anesthesia for over 100 years. Nurse Anesthetists have been. And many in the early years were simply 3 year nurses who were showed how to drop ether by another nurse anesthetists. The AANA is not even 100 years old and the term, "CRNA" was not invented until after WW II.
As far as education, there are still a ton of nurse anesthetists out there with a AA degree or a diploma from a three year nursing school, no ICU experience and a diploma from an 18 month anesthesia school. Total education time, 3-4 academic years. So big deal that the CRNAs now require a bachelors degree to get in and a masters degree to practice, that is the same standard as the AAs.
Again, I do not care who gets to give the anesthesia as long as it is safe anesthesia.
and for CRNAphD...I sure hope you can write better than you did here. The comment about paragraphs is accurate.
