It seems there a quite a few "older" applicants, so don't feel out of place. There is a good amount of into on the internet about the basic qualities of AA's. To ease a couple of your worries: The AA's I shadowed absolutely LOVE their jobs. One had a choice between AA and dental school and they said they don't regret their choice of AA. Although not accredited in many states (yet), not one AA had a hard time finding a job. They are heavily recruited upon graduating. The one I observed said they didn't even get the chance to interview at all the employers seeking them. So don't worry about job security or whether it'll be worth it, and oh yeah, they are really rewarded.
