No matter what level of education a CRNA has, an introduction to the patient should always include the fact that a Nurse Anesthetist is the one delivery the care. Why give the MDA, who the patient identifies as "Doctor", the erroneous credit for the excellent one on one care delivered by the Nurse Anesthetist? I make sure every patient that I anesthetize knows exactly who I am, a Nurse Anesthetist. I applaud all CRNAs who seek advanced doctoral degrees.
