Aul Saba scored 72.609% today on Training Level test 1 at a schooling show with an L judge. This was her first actual "schooling show" as the last event she did was a competition clinic. So out of 8 horses, she was first place!
For test 2, I had trouble getting myself together and messed up our canter departures. We just lost our impulsion a bit and I didn't prepare well enough in advance. Still, we received a score of 62% and placed 3rd of 4.
My strategy for this show was to enter Intro test B to do as a warm-up ride. Saba has never been at this place, it is an indoor arena with mirrors on the wall, and she has not seen the low white rail of a Dressage court in so long I figured she would be distracted and needed a "throw away test" before doing the real thing. Well, they scheduled the Intro tests after the Training Level tests so that didn't work out. She got first place again with a 67%. The judge told me to move up a level, and I explained that I needed to get our first schooling show out of the way, not knowing what to expect from my horse.
Saba was so well mannered and business like. At home she is a little hellion, but she knows what her job is.
