Sorry I haven't been contributing Donna...hadn't been feeling too well, but I'm here now.
As for imprinting, I dont' do anything more than I did ten years ago. I play with the foal, stroke it and love on it. I wouldn't call it 'imprinting' like they do in the books. I don't think any hard and fast rule applies. It depends on the person, the foal and the dam. When my last filly was born it was very hot out. I had to put a sheet up to keep the sun off the baby. We spent alot of time just lying in the shade, she, her mom and I. Lura is quite attached to me and not much flusters her. She gets along with all of the horses, which is more than I can say when she met her first new pasturemate...she hated Bella on sight, lol.
