I really don't know the safest time to wean. I think it normally depends on the foal. Some could wean earlier and others need to stay on a little longer. I wouldn't wean any earlier than 4 months but that's just me. I normally don't wean mine until 5 or 6 months. With Czara I have a harder time weaning her from the foal than the foal from her. She's still always calling and staring at all three of her girls who are ages 1,2 and 4. I really hope your baby gets the disposition from the sire for your sake.
