Ok, I feel like I'm totally hogging this board..... Teak, my little rescue did his first LD ride on Sat. Beautiful Ochoco National forest, natural meadows and ponderosa pines, nice weather, etc. Teak seemed interested in everything, look at all those horses, cars, dogs, kids, wow... too much to take in for a horse that was locked up for over 6 years!! But, he camped like a dream....He's been under saddle apprx. 60 days, left on a loose rein, it was just a trail ride to him! Only 2 major spooks, troted all day, but soooooo slow!!! He may speed up when he gets in better shape. Took the whole 7+ hours to complete, he drank SUPER well on the trail and at the vet checks. There was a ton of grass on the trail, but he didn't eat any of it. I think that will have to be learned and he just didn't "get it". The vets loved him and guess what, some folks saw him and asked his lineage and they own his uncle who was also at the ride. (He's semi-retired, just does an occasional LD as he's 23 years old.) His name is Heavenly Beau and is a Gai Campaigner son. Teak's parents are Heavenly Debut and Heavenly Bahil and he's a double Gai Campaigner grandson!! They were the nicest people and so odd to have found Teak and me just by commenting on his little Raffles head!! I'm so very proud of him, now he can have an accomplishment besides breeding everything that can be bred!!
