Hello everyone, well, I'm back riding a green horse again, makes me appreciate Ash a whole lot more. Teak (Asil Kontiki) is 21 and just completed 30 days of training. I've ridden him 3 times now, once at the trainers and twice at home. He is so darn cute and tries very hard, even though he still gets scared very easily. He has a super fast walk (for being 13.3) and wants to go, leads, follows, etc. Yest. we went alone for the first time and other than a few times he balked like young green horses do, thinking they can get out of work, he did great. I did see 2 deer off in the distance, stopped him and pointed him towards them til they moved and he noticed. What a silly boy, he has deer in his pasture all the time, but this was SO different! His heart pounded on my legs, he would walk a step or two forward and then try to turn and go home, then he did the challenging stallion blow (he was gelded at 19) which totally cracked me up. He had to pack me down a steep slippery hill to come home and he was so careful about where he put his feet. He is still awfully nervous at times and I have to be on my toes and sit deep, grab mane when he gets squirrelly and remember the one rein stop!!! I'll post photos soon! He seems happy to have something to do though.
