But seriously, the end of WWII, the occupation by the US, UK, France, and Soviet Union, the formation of East Germany, all that stuff I had learned in the history textbooks suddenly became tangible right in front of my eyes! It was hard for me to see the remnants of the wall and the pictures of people who didn't make it while trying to escape. Incidentally, on the plane coming back I watched a movie called The Bridge of Spies (I clicked on it cause Tom Hanks was the main character and I was bored lol). Turned out it was about that period and many scenes were what I had just visited like the Checkpoint Charlie. Apparently the movie was based on true events.
Anyways, if you're interested in the Cold War history, it's definitely worth visiting! Especially for a history teacher.
