Hey, question for you as a bilingual speaker. Is there a dialect in Japan which would pronounce samurai as "SAM (rhymes with jam) mu rye" instead of "sah-mu-rai"? I saw this native speaker on You Tube pronouncing it this way and mentioned it was distracting. And someone commented that it's probably a dialect difference so I should be judging just because I'm not familiar with the dialect.
I think it's not a dialect but the fact they guy grew up in Michigan. But wanted to check with you before I responded.
