Posted by imotic However, it seems that my idea and the program's idea of what ID3 Album Naming is are somewhat different. Let me first explain the way I manage mp3's. I have all of my mp3's in the same directory; mp3's that I haven't listened to yet go in a subdirectory called "EVALUATE". The first line of the README is "Album List is a WinAMP general plugin that takes a directory tree and turns it into a list of albums." This would suggest that Album List won't work for me. However, in the Options section of Album List Preferences, I'm given the choice of "Use ID3 Tag" or "Use directory name". This leads me to believe that I don't need to have my mp3's ordered by directory; rather, I can just select 'Use ID3 Tag' and they'll be sorted by the album in the ID3 tag. However, this doesn't seem to work; nothing shows up if I check the "ignore playlists at root of search paths" checkbox, as my playlists have nothing to do with albums. If I leave "ignore playlists at root of search paths" unchecked, I get a list of albums that seem to correspond to subdirectories of my EVALUATE directory (as much of my EVALUATE directory is arranged by Artist\Album). Often when I load an 'album' from here, multiple albums are selected in the album window, and there seems to be no relation between the album and the songs playing in the album. I have yet to figure out how it decides what songs are part of these albums, as there is no playlist that corresponds to these lists of songs. Am I understanding the program wrong, or is there a bug somewhere? If I'm understanding it wrong, how could I possibly get the kind of pseudo-random lists I'm getting? The image here shows you what I mean.. sorry for the poor JPEG compression, but you get the idea.

First off, let me say that this is a necessary component of WinAMP altogether. Have you talked to WinAMP people about getting it included with their base product? If the album code could be merged into WinAMP's code, I think that'd be a great idea.
