Posted by Jim Morley There is a lot of "chatter" about the fact that GDI does not seem to have as many mechs as before. There may be some really good reasons for this. If the nature of the combat changes, a military force will either adapt or die. Now, according what scraps of story we have, GDI just got it's collective butt kicked. So perhaps someone took a look and saw that thirty- foot tall mechs were an easier target to hit than ten foot tall tanks. Or perhaps tanks are easier to seal against Tiberian dust than mechs are (just picture all of the moving parts required to make a mech walk). Also, if I have to travel through a ion-storm where there's giant bolts of lightning, I might not want to be in something metal that stands up. There are those that say the loss of the GDI space station made all of the plans for the mechs vanish. But anyone who actually played TibSun will remember thant when you captured the other guy's War Factory you got to build his weapons. This means that the "plans" are inside of the War Factory. Remember that the Mammoth Mk II was still "experimental" and we no longer had access to the older Mammoth Tanks. This means that something was very wrong with the Mk II. In the military you normally have the replacement on line BEFORE you start shutting down the old stuff. It would be like the US Marines throwing away all of their transport helicopters while the Ospry was still being developed. Now, one major change I would like to see is that there are connections and reminders of the ealier games. Buildings, old units rusting in a river, even a faint "Are you picking this up?" How many felt a rush when TibSun woke up and you heard those snippets of audio "I've been getting odd reports of animals." And don't forget, we get to Tiberian Dawn though the Soviet victory in the original Red Alert. Rumor has it that the original Flame Tank was designed by the Soviets to deal with Giant Ants. Kane Plan "B" - I don't think I'm alone in that I'd really love to see Uncle Joe return. But just in case that doesn't work out, there needs to be an option. What isn't an option is that there is no Kane. Sorry. In Tiberian Sun we saw that Kane had half his face covered by some kind of mask. By now this skin problem may have spread to cover most of his face and altered the sound of his voice. And we don't know if the "Kane-in-a-jar" we saw in Firestorm was Kane or a clone. Just don't make the replacement Kane sound like a Dr Who Dalik.

I'm going to stop posting stuff here on the odd chance we can get something going. We'll see.
