"Realized who he was!"

I was warming up next to the lifter in question and heard the comments about another lifter's depth and how it "wouldn't fly where he was from." I was also getting ready to lift when he got buried by the half-squat that aparently does fly where he comes from. |
It's kind of funny that all legitimately strong lifters I have met are some of the most humble people out there. They don't need to pound their chests, reminding people "who they are." Their lifting does the talking for them. When I had the honor of sharing the podium with the great Tony Conyers at this year's Raw Unity, he was shaking my hand, telling me that guys like Alex and I are his inspiration and how we are the future of the sport. And he is one of the best lightweight lifters of all time, has won every Raw Unity lightweight division, and managed to hit, on a bad day for him, nearly 500 Wilks formula raw while being over 50 (and hit in the 530-range last year). I guess a legitimate mid-1500 total as a light 165-lber eliminates the need to remind people "who he is."
