72.65.192.78I think the answer is making sure that the schedule fits your club members and not necessarily worry about what other federations are doing. The economy and family commitments are going to be a major factor in the near future. Stay away from holidays, look at scheduling fewer meets but with more awards, trophys, etc. and maybe cut some costs, if possible, to make things more affordable. If you try to have meets at approximately the same times every year then club members can figure out what they can afford to go to and plan better.
You may also want to listen to the input from members. Don't let a handful of members make decisions for everyone thinking that what they want is what all members want. I know you can't make everyone happy, but you work so hard and put so much time into this that it may be time to get some feedback from members so you can make sure that all your hard work will pay off.
An example of input would be like lifter of the decade. All members had input and voted on the idea.
I know maybe all members don't have a computer, so maybe send information thru the mail once a year so that all members know what the plans for the ADAU are and they can have input.
Another example that comes to mind. If the majority of the ADAU members want to have a world championship, why not. The other organizations do it, why not the ADAU?
If it will keep the existing members and perhaps bring in new ones, lets do it.

Maybe were not that big national let alone world wide.The A.D.A.U.pretty much stands alone were raw and drug free and I'm sure there are other organizations that are raw and drug free as well,this is our federation,so lets make it our own worlds where peoples dreams can come true. It gives new hope and something to hang on to,it might even draw more lifters into the A.D.A.U.,if outsiders come they should all be drug tested so they don't take anything from us.We will never know unless we try.What do we have to loose? 69.78.129.23Doug my comment was in reference to your query about us needing to compete against foreigners in order to have a World Championship, to which I said yes we do. In order to have a "World Championship", you need participation from "The "World". But as I stated in a previous thread, only the IPF has a true World Powerlifting Championship. Every other organization is doing the term a disservice. We barely have enough participation in the tri-state area to have a "Northeast Championship", let alone a "National Championship". But I will continue to compete in the ADAU no matter what we call our biggest meet because I love it. - Re: What's the answer?

74.47.87.157Gentlemen, I don't think there is anything wrong with the ADAU. True,we are a small organition, but we are a proud organition. What other organition no matter what age lifts without bondage and when the meet is over can be so proud ? I still can go on and on but we still know that we are the best. Powerlifting is one of my nessesities, so I'll be there helping out.

206.123.245.133Al, don't take the attendance personal or see it as a trend. I agree with Joe about the economy. I'm having similar issues with my gym as Joe is. Also, most of our crew have been sick making sticking with our training hard. Been alot of nasty bugs going around. Trust me, we don't like missing your meet. It's just not possible for someone 4 hours from Clearfield to be home in time for his daughter's first Halloween. I was interested when it was the 24th. I would suggest staying away from running the meet on the 31st. Al, you're just too nice of a guy to schedule around other meets in the state (USAPL). 148.177.0.100My original plan was to go to Central PA Open, since I was unable to attend this year's nationals. Then it occurred to me what date the meet was held: Halloween. I have not missed one year of trick-or-treating with my girls, and there was no way I was missing it this year either. I just would not be able to make it back in time after the meet was over. There are only a few things on my priority list higher than my dedication to my lifting, my kids being at the very top of that list.
On the other hand, I see that next year's nationals will be held in the Philadelphia area. Excellent...

Between unemployment, Halloween, and the H1N1 flu at epidemic proportions--I know most people are in denial about this but it is a FACT for sure--it's got to be tough on alot of lifters. Even if I didn't have rotator cuff surgery on Sept. 10th, I still wouldn't be able to come due to the trick-or-treating with my kids . I'd get home from the meet on Saturday and my wife would have my stuff on the lawn!! Sorry Al. - Re: What's the answer?

160.93.37.40I agree that Trick or Treating had somewhat of an influence on the total number of lifters. Davis Lee told me he was going to compete at the CPAC, but he had already picked out his costume (A Ninja) for Holloween when he realized that they were on the same day. So he made the tough call and stayed home to Trick or Treat with his mom...KIDS...No dedication to the sport. - Re: What's the answer?

However, because of the person that you are in representing the ADAU, I'm sure that we all will continue to support the ADAU meets. I am mailing a $50.00 donation to support the ADAU.
