Here is the really hardcore news from the Nationals. Al, in spite of an otherwise perfect meet, you messed up. The Moena was closed for vacation. Maybe they heard we were coming? :-) We tried Hedges, but, to be honest, we were disappointed in it. I would call it OK, but not that great and somewhat over priced. For a small example, my wife noticed that the bread basket was full of (something like) Wonder, and that is not a great offering. A new meaning for BYOB, where Bread is involved. I did like their bar, however; attractive w/ good ambiance and quiet. The pleasant surprise for me was, believe it or not, Denny’s. In spite of the lukewarm at best comments of some locals, I enjoyed it. I’m only one of the tourists, but it was fine. We got there at 7:15 on Saturday night and were seated within 15 minutes. Service was a little slow at first, but not bad. We thought the burgers were pretty good, with the flame cooked flavor. We didn’t try anything colossal, and ordered regular 1/2 pounders. Big place, but mostly divided into smaller areas, so there was some degree of coziness in spite of the hustle and bustle. And the décor was pleasant enough; wood slat walls where we sat. We saw a few others from the meet there, and they all had smiles on their faces. : -) All in all, a good experience, perhaps aided by our modest expectations, but I would definitely want to go there again.
