I was just wondering if any meet directors would like to provide real-time meet updates - providing there is internet access at the venue. This would be great for anyone that couldn't make it to the meet to see how it was going.
I created a sample web page for the next meet. The page allows someone to update the tables after a successful login. Without logging in, the tables can be viewed by anyone - just not updated.
To check it out and update the table with sample data to see how it works, go to:
http://bcbutler.com/adau/scrappy_joes_single_lift_championships_feb-2012.php
and enter the following credentials:
Username: adau
Password: pass123
After logging in you will see an update form for each division just below that division's table. Enter the lifter's ID and whatever field you want to update and click the Update button.
NOTE: The page is setup to refresh automatically every 5 minutes to show new updates (but you could refresh at anytime manually, of course). The Comments area is set up to append, so you can comment on each lift if you wanted without overwriting any previous text. Another thing, the Best Lift field is calculated automatically after each update. But for it to work, a "-" needs to be in front of any words ("miss" or "pass" for example, would need to be entered as -miss or -pass). Otherwise, the best lift would be that word.
Also, if you would like to use this page for the next meet, just let me know and I can get in touch with new login credentials. At that time the credentials in this message would no longer work.
If you see anything wrong or something that could be different, please let me know. This is practice for the database class that I'm taking.
Thanks,
Brian
