I really appreciate the effort Nick Vlasic made trying to get a contest to succeed, here in Monroeville. I feel it was destined to fail for a few reasons, I picked up from other lifters. The noise was overwhelming at times, mostly caused from the main stage at the Kumite. Lifters didn't always hear the commands. The warm up area was insufficient and the warm up bars were bent. The squat warm up squat rack was unstable and on two separate occasions the weights were almost dumped, from the rack wobbling. Their placement on the plywood was the cause of this. One part was sticking over the edge because the wood was too small. There wasn't even close to enough seating for spectators. I have no idea of the expense of putting on a meet but if a meet can't be put on safely, it shouldn't be put on. Use a higher quality of good safe equipment and have enough room for everything and everybody. Don't have us climbing over each other. Then you'll have a chance at holding bigger meets. Bottom line, the Kumite couln't have accommodated any more lifters than it did in the last couple of meets.
