Again I ask that you read what I wrote. What works for some people doesn't work for others. Trying to explain token lifts to you is futile so I won't even bother. For the rest of us interested there is a tactical advantage and has already been discussed. Another use for token lifts doesn't necessarily involve breaking records. For example, if you get injured during a meet and have the bench and deadlift left. I've seen many people do that and complete meets if not for the win but for the experience. I also would use a token lift in the bench since my shoulder has been acting up say maybe take my opener of 300 lbs. that would keep me in the meet.
If you are for or against token lifts it is indeed and interesting subject. I see both sides of the story, and I see that it is a viable way to staying alive in a meet.
