I don't know if you'll get this as your post was almost a year ago. I have a daughter who just turned 18 and we also live near Vancouver, BC. My daugher was diagnosed with Velo-Cardio-Facial syndrome when she was 11 at BC Children's Hospital. She has experienced a lot of what you say regarding your son. Would be nice to chat.
