It is sad to hear that things haven't changed in the 28 years since my son was born with 22q11 deletion. Since the children with this diagnosis have varied presentations it is nearly impossible to tell you what to expect. Since my son doesn't have cleft palate he wasn't diagnosed until 2006 at the age of 28. I can give you a brief developmemtal overview. He had a speech delay, an articulation problem, learning disabilities - time concepts, math, motor planning , visual memory, fine motor, feeding problems sleep issues. I can tell you that he achieved a red belt in taekwondo, played little league, swam on a swim team for several years, sang a solo in a class production in 5th grade, traveled to florida from Boston on an airplane by himself when he was 12, and got married in 2004.
