: I want to know what people/moms do
: with their special needs children
: when they go grocery shopping. My
: son can't sit up on his own, so he
: can't sit in the shopping cart, but
: he's getting too big for his
: carrying car seat. I really don't
: want to push a stroller and pull a
: shopping cart at the same time. But
: I also don't want to take him away
: from the outside world. So what do
: you do?
:
I did not have this struggle with my child who has 22q, but I did have twins. I found that most stores are willing to go out of their way to accomadate their regular shoppers. I would try to make arrangments with the store before you get there. There is usually a courtesy clerk that could be available to help (Even Wal-mart has these). If it were me, I would contact your favorite store ahead of time. Explain that you have been shopping there for x number of years and that you would like to continue shopping there, but you are needing to accomadate your child with disabilities. You might ask if a clerk could push your shopping cart while you push the stroller or ask if they have any suggestions. Most stores are willing to accomadate people with disabilities. They may even have a better idea! Good luck.
