hi! This is exactly what happened to us although my son did have apnoea before surgery and should therefore never have been a candidate but that is a whole other story! I think most kids usually have their tonsils removed and that helps considerably. In extreme cases they suggest the reversal..for us it wasn't an option as the surgery/apnoeaic probs/probs with anaesthetic were against him so he has been using cpap and will continue to for the rest of his natural life. this is by no means an easy option, he was 13 when he started, absolutely hates it etc but it has improved his quality of life for things that had always been an issue with him! I think if you are being offered the tonsillectomy this is a good way to go as this will free up a great deal of room in the airway. The majority of kids in a sleep apnoea group I am in have this done to reverse the apnoea and in the majority of cases it is successful!
