I had the lay out for the main selling room in Kassel. We were able to discuss who will be coming, but also many of the "old-timers" that will be missing this year.
YestrToys, Eric Goggans, will have a table in the main, producers, selling room. Kevin Stewart and myself will be manning this table for Eric.
Speaking of Eric: he was a little bit late for our meeting. Once he entered the house with 2 big boxes, he was surrounded by all of us, anxiously waiting for him to unpack his goodies. It reminded me of Christmas-except the tree was missing. Eric is doing his 3D printing business full time now. He also found a young lady that is doing a great job at painting his models-you will be able to see some of that in my attached photo album.
Some of us, guided and administered by Peter Gottschalk, meet 2 times a month on Zoom. We always have great and interesting discussions. If you would like to join us, please contact Peter Gottschalk or myself for the Zoom link and the timing of the next meeting: Wednesday, May 15.
A group of our members went to the house of a deceased large scale ship model builder. They were very impressed with the "huge" models, some of them so big that the builder broke them up into separate pieces. In the future, these models will be on display in a museum in Vacaville, CA-very close to our favorite ice cream store: Fenton's Creamery.
In addition to 3D printing, Eric is also expanding into decals and PE: https://yestrtoys.com/products/Decals-&-Photoetch-c167596505
Our members from Sacramento, Anthony Marquez and Randy Short, had prepared a 1 page write up. They are proposing for us to contact a film department at a local college. We would like for possibly 4 students to create a short, 10-12 minute film about our hobby by visiting some of our Navy Rooms. Hopefully this short film can be distributed through You Tube or other channels. This might be a way, for us to reach a younger audience.
If anyone reading this has any suggestions, please email me haralds@thescheels.com.
We spent some time discussing ideas for new models to be created by Eric. For example: USS Cleveland conversions to Missile Cruisers. Or LPH Boxer, Or other Essex Angel deck conversions.
Our next meeting is scheduled for September 28, 2024, at Paul's house.
