i tried afew years ago and found one usefull side view, but did manage to find at least 3 separate layouts to the guns, but apart from the german model no complete confirmed layout.
I too have been looking for the same info online with very limited success, with a view to converting a pair of Triang Queens to troopships. Although the pictures on Sammelhafen were an inspiration I decided to only use details I could verify from old photos etc. on the web.
I did however find some useful info in a few books that were recommended in the forums which I found on Ebay and which have a few useful snippets in the text and some photos.
For the QM there is “Gray Ghost” by Steve Harding and in answer to your request for QE there is “Queen Elizabeth at War” by Chris Konings. Covering both ships is “Warrior Queens” by Daniel Allen Butler.
I never found any plans online, I suspect I would need to physically visit the Museums such as IWM and Liverpool where the Cunard Archives are. If you managed to discover a plan for QM is there any chance of viewing it to see if I’ve made any glaring mistakes.
Am currently working with Pete Paschall and Wayne Smith at ALNAVCO (see website) preparing 1:1200 molds for the wartime Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth Cunard liners (with AA weapons, radars, extra lifeboats and floats, degaussing system, etc.). Have excellent info on the QM (and expect casting soon for painting), but have found little on the QE. Would appreciate any assistance re sources of any nature on the matter. Tx much.
