Pic# NS020854 attributed to Mike Green shows a SBD-3 landing on the Hornet during the Midway Operation. No evidence of markings
Pic# NS020868 attributed to Alex Tatchin also shows an SBD-3 on the flight deck aft of the island. No evidence of markings.
Pic#s NS020852 and NW020868a show a TBD on the aft part of the flight deck. No evidence of markings.
Pic# NS020858 shows a damaged F4f-4 landing during the Midway operation. No evidence of markings.
Then I found a picture on eBay that reportedly shows the Hornet's flight deck with F4f-4 and SBD aircraft. The fighters have their engines running. Again, no evidence of markings.

So based upon available pictorial evidence it would seem the Hornet's flight deck was devoid of any flight deck markings for the Midway operation.
