In the printed edition, the caption now reads: Scratch-built Japanese sea trucks, dark grey in wood with typical stern-mounted deckhouses. This change from outhouses to deckhouses makes no sense. It was common Japanese practice in both small and larger vessels to use square wooden outhouses hung alongside the ships. When an ordinary freighter was carrying hundreds of troops, there certainly would not be enough toilet facilities for so many passengers, thus these improvised toilets were made.
