Re: SOME NEW MODELS
In fact the JOFFRE is not quite "never was" since the keel and bottom hull were clearly built on slipway giving neat sight of her lines of ship on photos of 1940 when the armistice came to abandon the construction. A bit same like an antic Roman or Greek galley rests discovered in good condition with all ribs from bow to poop on sea bed. Seen an old JOFFRE official model of museum but impossible to figure accurate details on upper works as they never existed and the model looks a bit smooth (no portholes, doors, ladders, machine guns, so on).
Her sister the PAINLEVE were never started in dry dock and remained on plans. Interesting model project so much curious was the design with unwedged flightdeck separated from island. More interesting again would be a fitting with spectacular French types of "bizarre" project of aircrafts of that time also abandoned for this aircrafts carrier.
Christmas workload notwithstanding, I managed to make a few new models while buying gifts, grocery shopping, and tree trimming (including two real trees in the backyard). Here they are:
My next project will be the never built French aircraft carrier "Joffre". Wish me luck!
