I saw my first Navis model around 1964-5. By 1966 I was collecting them, I noticed that the ones I was getting were improved beyond the first ones that I had seen. Clearly the masters and molds were evolving. Most of the Navis line has gone through multiple revisions over the length of the line. What was produced in 1968, was substantially improved over what had been produced four or five years earlier.
Several years I bought on eBay a few old Navis American pre-dreadnoughts,which did not have the usual color but rather a sort of yellowish tan shade. Recently on Facebook a man named Pauly showed showed a photograph of a number of familiar ships that he had bought at an estate auction. I bought my original Navis ships in 1968 for Christmas. They have a slightly different shade of green than the Navis ships recently bought. These old ships are slightly more crude than the modern Navis ships. Now are those old ships from the 1950s or early 1960s? Tim Niesen
