Re: Italian Vessels in Asia during WWII
Those are really nicely made/finished models and of historic interest. I think the Conte Verde was one of ships my parents traveled on during my father's tenure as Chinese ambassador to Mussolini's Italy, where I was born. Especially like the ex-Ramb, which I think also served as an AMC.
This pic shows some of the Italian vessels in Asian waters during WWII. Ships top to bottom:
1. KOTOBUKI MARU (ex. Conte Verde passenger ship)
2. IKUTAGAWA MARU (ex. Ramb II cargo/passenger ship)
3. Eritrea (colonial sloop)
4. Okitsu (ex. Lepanto minelayer used as a gunboat in IJN service)
5. Narumi (ex. ERMANNO CARLOTTO gunboat)
Eritrea was the only vessel to escape being taken over by the Japanese. As Eritrea was at sea when the Italian surrendered the vessel was able to elude the Japanese and surrendered at Colombo.
