Re: RN Trento new model
Good question! No, it's not a secret; it's just that no one has ever asked me before about references (though in truth I don't say much about them in my posts).
When I made the previous Trento and Trieste, my main reference was "Gli Incrociatori Italiani". My references for this latest model were:
Profile Morskie #80 "RN Trento"
Warship Pictorial #23 "Italian Heavy Cruisers of WW2"
Mussolini's Navy, 1930-45, by Maurizio Brescia
Incrociatori Pesanti #4 "Trento class".
Hope this helps.
I am intrigued by the reference to "better reference materials" - what are these and what are the now-regarded-as-inferior ones? (Unless of course these are the trade secret!)
A beautiful model as usual. I am sure your modelling skills have also become more sophisticated over time so as to make better use of better reference materials.
I knew that RN Trento as she appeared during WW2 was going to be a bugger due to the pentapod bridge structure, and it was. The crazy Italian ideas about ship camouflage didn't help either. However, here she is. You can also find the photos on my website, which is "miniaturemodeling.com", in the Italy WW2 Cruisers gallery. You can compare this model with the Trento and Trieste I made many years ago, using what I now regard as inferior reference material. Hope you like it.
