John, my memory is good, but not fantastic. It wasn't too difficult to remember: Paul got the first one in 2010, I got the second - the abandoned master - a little more than a year later, I remembered a third you did for another collector - don't know who - a couple of years ago, and this one. All were outstanding. And, yes, I would never attempt that hull and deck configuration, and I am a better than fair modeler. Kudos! I know neither Paul nor I was upset with the price. When you are done with showing off #4, I am sure that it will find a welcoming home.
David, your memory is fantastic. Yes, this is the fourth and hopefully final time I struggle to make IJN Kaga. As you know, very little is parallel to anything else in that strange design. Makes for a tough job working it out. However, this is, I believe, my most accurate model of Kaga. I am thinking that I will keep it around for awhile and show it off at a future meeting of the SMSC west coast gang and then offer it for sale. And thank you both for your comments/compliments. Always appreciated. Note that there are more photos of this model on my website as noted in my original posting. Also a number of photos of previous attempts, including one that started as a master, but was finished as a model itself.
May and June have been busy months for me. I've been working on the new 1/700 scale Fujimi IJN Kaga kit and simultaneously scratchbuilding Kaga in 1/1250 scale. Also took an almost 5,000 mile auto trip with my wife to see kids and grandkids. Great trip. Visited 11 atates in 13 days.
You can find photos of the "new" Kagas on my website in the Japan WW2 Aircraft Carriers gallery, pages 12 and 13. Here are a few of them. My website is "miniaturemodeling.com"
