: Complicated to answer.
: Neptun models are generally very high
: quality. The are some exceptions where the
: model is inaccurate, even if casting is
: crisp and sharp. There have been changes at
: Navis Neptun and and some collectors have
: had issues with a few new releases, however
: other new releases have been the usual
: WDS ( Oliver Maertens ) can be more varied,
: because Oliver bought the master moulds from
: other producers. For example, Furious is the
: Argonaut model, improved and reworked. The
: improvements are usually well done, but the
: base mould limits how good the model can be.
: In other cases, the original manufacturer
: model was very good anyway so the WDS model
: is also very good. WDS also acquired the U9,
: Ostrowski, Aquarius, and Sextant lines, for
: example. U9 warships were as good as Neptun,
: so the WDS models based on them are equally
: good. This is also true of the Aquarius US
: Civil War ships now produced by WDS.
: Also, Oliver produced his own models with
: own moulds, my experience here is they are
: usually quite good.
: The bottom line is you need to look at
: pictures of the models, if at all possible.
: Both Neptun and Oliver have web sites,
: Oliver has an E-bay store, too.
: In general, the best quality/cost ratio for
: WWII models was usually Neptun. Neptun
: doesn't cover all subjects and sometimes, if
: you want a model of a particular ship in a
: particular fit, you'll need to go elsewhere.
